The LOGIN Mandala
The Mandala is a visual depiction of the rich ecosystem of institutions, actors, engagements and actions that form the Network.
The outer circle indicates member countries in South and East Asia. These countries differ from each other in terms of context and cultures, and follow different pathways to better governance at the local level.
The next circle shows the stakeholders who are the enablers strengthening local governance. The enablers are guided by different strategies, practices and institutional modes, but work towards capacitating and enabling local governments, as well as advocating on their behalf. LOGIN creates the space for these enablers to engage in a non-hierarchical, non-threatening, learning environment, and helps them connect with peers in other countries to share experiential knowledge and seek new ideas to benefit from peer-exchange.
The third circle indicates the authorising environment provided in each country as embodied in constitutions, legislations and policies. The enablers derive their legitimacy, and formulate their strategies and actions on the basis of these frameworks. Institutions and practices in local governance operate under the rubric of an enabling environment.
Institutions and their practices are further strengthened by the promotion of a culture of connectedness, dialogue, knowledge sharing and learning among different actors within and across countries. They together support an enabling environment for capacitating institutions that work towards better local governance. Fourth circle represents the sphere nurtured by LOGIN.
The core represents the ultimate purpose for which LOGIN works, wherein there is better governance at the local level, and where people are aware and capable of playing the role of active and engaged citizens.
