Learning Visit and Experience Capitalisation Workshop on Youth Engagement in Local Governance

LOGIN member, Center for Local and Regional Governance of the National College of Public Administration and Governance of the University of Philippines (CLRG-NCPAG-UP), supported by the National Movement of Young Legislators (NMYL) and the Department of Interior and Local Governance (DILG) Office in Makati City, hosted an experience capitalisation workshop focusing on the Philippine’s unique model of youth participation through the Sangguniang Kabataan (Youth Council). The workshop included a field visit to Makati City to observe the barangay officials and other collaborators working with adolescents and youth to counter drug abuse through the Pagasa sa Makati campaign as well as to meet young elected leaders who are part of the City Council. The event, attended by LOGIN members from nine South and East Asian countries, served as an opportunity for the Network to facilitate cross-learning amongst the membership through experience sharing, exchange of good practices and articulation of challenges and enabling factors with respect to role of youth in local governance.
